About the role
The Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) Unit provides assessment and rehabilitation for patients over 65 years of age. It is a 20-bed facility. This position is working within a multi-disciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health.
The staff in GEM work closely in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary health care team to provide the best practice standards of patient care and service delivery that meets the needs and preference of our patients, families and carers.
In this role you would be dealing with a variety of patients recovering from a stroke, orthopaedic surgery and other health conditions were function has declined requiring rehabilitation to assist with regaining function and discharge planning to the next appropriate location of care.
As a member of staff you must have the availability to work across all shifts including morning, afternoons, evenings and nights over a 7-day week by roster.

About the role
Gandarra Palliative Care Unit is a highly regarded 11-bed speciality unit based at the Queen Elizabeth Centre, the sub-acute site of Grampians Health Ballarat. Patients admitted to the Unit have progressive, incurable disease. Admission to the Unit may be for end stage care, complex symptom assessment and management and respite care (provided on a limited basis to palliative care patients) We provide care for patients and families from Ballarat and the Grampians regions.
Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team with a strong focus on patient centred holistic care and there are opportunities for ongoing, professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence based nursing care

- Develops professional practice in accordance with the health needs of the population and changing patterns of disease and illness

- At least two years’ experience post registration

About the role
Ballarat Health Services (BHS) is undergoing $541.6 Million redevelopment of the Ballarat Base Hospital. The redevelopment will deliver a new emergency department, a women and children’s hub, state-of-the-art theatre suite and an extra 100 inpatient and short stay beds. A new and expanded critical care floor will bring together operating theatres, procedure rooms, an expanded intensive care unit, endoscopy suites and consulting rooms – delivering capacity for an additional 4,000 surgeries every year.
Once completed, the upgraded hospital will have the capacity to treat at least 18,000 more emergency patients and an extra 14,500 inpatients per year
The redevelopment will be completed over multiple stages. Construction of the final stage is expected to be completed in 2027.
The principal function of this role is to provide administrative support in facilitate the planning and delivery of the Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment.
The Redevelopment Project Administrator will provide a comprehensive range of high level project related administrative support tasks, including management of electronic files and records, develop design comments registers, track financial expenditures, financial administration of quotations through the defined project processes, assist with procurement of minor works and equipment, manage the receipt and upload of as built documentation, assist with defects management, provide administrative support during the Defects Liability Period.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualifications in project or administration management would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience providing a broad range of administrative and project support services.
- Experience working within health, engineering or construction would be an advantage.
Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills
- High level of expertise using Microsoft suite and basic understanding of SharePoint.
- Previous experience using an electronic document management system (e.g. Aconex) would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to research, design and develop tasks and activities for themselves and others.
- Establishing courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
Work environment
- The primary work environment will be in a tenanted office facility near the Ballarat Base Hospital.

About the role
This overarching aim of the HYDDI clinician is to identify symptoms of mental illness and substance use issues, maximize recovery and assist in establishing service linkages for young homelessness people who are in receipt of homelessness response. These dedicated roles are to work in partnership within the youth homeless sector.
Within this context, it is proposed the HYDDI role have four components:
- Direct clinical support.
- Secondary consultation.
- Provision of information and education.
- Capacity building within the youth homelessness services.
Key Responsibilities
- This exciting role will require the clinician to work both in the clinical setting alongside the Youth Mental Health Team, and within services in the Youth Homeless Sector.
- Improve the capacity of Youth Homeless Services within the Grampians region
- Identify and maximise recovery and establish linkages for young persons with symptoms of Mental Illness and substance use issues.
- Provide specialist support to Youth Homeless case Mangers
- Liaison between the Homelessness sector/Mental Health and A&OD services.
Skills and experience
The successful applicant will require relevant qualifications in Nursing, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Social work with current registration with Australian Health Practioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

About the role
Applications are invited for Ward Clerks to join the Emergency Department as a communications clerk. This was previously a fixed term position now funded permanently. This position is primarily focused on answering the phone in the Emergency Department and directing calls to the relevant patients/staff. There is also an element of clerical work with filing and photocopying.

About the role
Ballarat Health Services is located in the Central Highlands of Victoria and is the main public referral health service to a catchment population of around 250 000 people across the Grampians region. The Critical Care Unit is a 13 bed unit and admits around 1250 patients every year and provides care for high dependency and intensive care patients, in addition to non-surgical cardiac patients.
- Therapies provided in the critical care unit include invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, haemofiltration, invasive haemodynamic monitoring, temporary cardiac pacing and delivery of inotropic and vasopressor agents.

- Can commit to a rotating roster including weekends and night shift; with 8,10 and 12 hour shifts available.

About the role
The Youth Mental Health Team is a multi-disciplinary team which provides support and treatment to persons aged 15 to 24 who may be experiencing a Major Mental Illness or significant Mental Distress.
This position will require the successful candidates to provide assessment, treatment and crisis interventions. This will also include liaison with other community services with in the local communities.
We are seeking two clinicians to support the Horsham/Ararat Area Mental Health Team. The successful candidates will be based in either Horsham, Ararat or Ballarat and support provided to the Horsham team. This role will require an element of travel and a preparedness to use telehealth. A fleet vehicle will provided for all work related travel requirements to and from Horsham back to the Ballarat office.

About the role
3 North is a Urology/Gynaecology ward, providing acute patient care to this group, as well as to overflow general surgical and general medical patients. This ward consists of 23 in-patient beds, plus a treatment room for patients undergoing a trial of void or bladder instillations.

About the role Ballarat Health Services is a major training site for the University of Melbourne and Deakin Rural Clinical Schools and senior staff are strongly committed to teaching and the professional development of Interns, HMOs and Registrars. Ballarat Health Services Emergency Department (ED) is currently recruiting for the 2022/2023 Clinical Year. These positions have been redesigned to better provide a clear pathway either into Emergency training, or the GP training program for our region. The department offers assistance and support in gaining the Diploma and/or the Certificate in Emergency Medicine. BHS ED is accredited for 24 months training with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and is undertaking the process of reviewing to extend this to 36 months.

Hospital Medical Officer positions (PGY2+) Emergency/Short Stay Unit
We are looking for doctors who have a team focus, exceptional communication skills and a desire to learn emergency medicine skills in a regional setting. The department places a high priority on patient centred care and a supportive team environment. Candidates will ideally have registration with ACEM and/or a strong interest in Emergency Medicine.
The ED has experienced strong growth in recent years with patient attendances increasing to around 60,000 presentations annually. Growth in absolute patient numbers has slowed in the last 2-3 years however, there has been significant increase in ATS Category 2 and 3 patients. This is reflected in an admission rate that is also climbing (currently 26-27%). Paediatric presentations account for approximately 28% of attendances; candidates will be able to meet paediatric logbook requirements. We also have a 12 bed short stay unit attached to the ED.
The department has a culture of supervision and support for junior medical staff. This includes proactive training for HMO and registrar groups, protected weekly training sessions, multi-disciplinary M&M and a responsive positive feedback program.
12 or 24 month positions of 76/86 hours per fortnight are available for those who meet key selection criteria. Priority for external rotations is given to trainees of ACEM based on training requirements, department staffing requirements and individual preferences.
Skills and experience
- Candidates will be required to be eligible for Provisional Registration with APRHA. IMG applicants who are required to sit the AMC exams must have successfully completed both the written and clinical components.

About the role
As a respiratory program fit tester you will be responsible for testing staff against a number of selected brands, model and sizes of P2/N95 respirators to ensure they adequately fit the wearer and protects them from harm. The Respiratory Protection Program is a broader program of work, which encompassing fit testing, but also seeks to improve both health services and health care worker’s knowledge and understanding of respiratory protection.
Full training will be provided to suitable candidates if they do not possess the necessary qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualised training and education to staff on wearing of respiratory protection
- Liaise with the administration support function to ensure all relevant requirements for the Respiratory Protection Program from the Department and the regional group are met.
- Adherence to infection control policies and procedures as identified in the Ballarat Health Services Infection Control Manuals.
- Ensure fit testing equipment is well maintained and has adequate supply stocks.

About the role
Ballarat Health Services is currently seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic Registered Nurse (Division 1) to join our team as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager and work in the Cardiovascular Unit
The Cardiovascular Unit opened in 2012 providing interventional cardiology & radiology procedures Monday to Friday plus emergency on call 24/7. If successful in the role you will be required to work a minimum of 1 call night per week and 1 weekend per month.
As the successful applicant you will have extensive clinical experience, preferably at least 5 years in the area of Cardiovascular Nursing, and it is desirable that you will possess or be working towards completion of a Managerial Qualification.
You will be able to work collaboratively and consultatively as part of a multidisciplinary team, have demonstrated leadership ability and have a clear understanding of the managerial responsibilities of an Associate Nurse Unit Manager.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will be expected to facilitate and foster best practice and service delivery to our clients and their families within the Cardiovascular Unit.

- Develop a strong collaborative working relationship with local Medical and Mental Health and Acute Services and other specialist services to ensure an integrated approach to the assessment and treatment of Mental Health Disorders.
- Develop a service plan for the establishment of the Grampians Health Mental Health program for AOD and Crisis Hub.
- Lead staff with the development and implementation of management plans to support people experiencing acute mental health disorders and heightened risk-taking behaviors associated co-morbid mental health difficulties, and their families/carers.

About the role

About the role

About Prevention and Recover Care (PARC)
The PARC is a 12-bed treatment facility that offers short to medium term rehabilitation to participants. It includes 6 beds for stays up to 28 days and 6 extended PARC beds for stays up to 6 months. This guideline outlines the process for admissions and discharges to and from the PARC.
The PARC has a recovery orientated framework. This encompasses principles of self-determination and personalised care. Recovery-oriented practice emphasis's hope, social inclusion, community participation, personal goal setting and self-management. This promotes a coaching or partnership relationship between people accessing mental health services and mental health professionals, whereby people with lived experience are considered experts on their lives and experiences while mental health professionals are considered experts on available treatment services.
About the role
We are seeking a registered psychiatric Nurse who will provide clinical treatments to clients within the inpatient mental health services and their carers that are evidence based and/or best practice, family inclusive to enhance the patient’s recovery from serious mental disorder.
Relevant knowledge on principle of recovery orientated care, trauma informed care and showcase a capacity to observe care via a holistic lens.
Relevant knowledge and skills in risk assessment, mental state assessment, care planning and knowledge of acute mental and addiction nursing care and practice is essential to undertake this role. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation is required.

About the role
The Ballarat Health Services Emergency Department services the Grampians region for all urgent medical needs. Consisting of 25 beds, with 12 short stay units and 3 resuscitation bays.
BHS offers a mix of Emergency Department skill sets with triage, resuscitation cubicles, acute cubicles, minor injury - fast tracks, and short-stay unit. Open 24-hours, there is a variety of rotating shifts.

About the role
We are seeking an energetic pharmacist to provide leadership and expertise to the rapidly expanding antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) service at Grampians Health. The successful applicant will join the AMS team in providing leadership and expertise for our AMS program, particularly our Sepsis Management Program. Opportunities exist for involvement in training, education and research, and other areas of pharmacy services.
- Opportunity to influence sepsis management and antimicrobial use
- Lead, facilitate and/or consolidate the processes required to ensure patients with sepsis are identified and managed in a timely manner, resulting in; reduced sepsis-related mortality, ICU- admission and hospital stay whilst ensuring early administration of IV antibiotics.
- Expand/support the expansion of the Sepsis Management Program to, for example, paediatric, aged care and other areas within Grampians Health.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and/or support the rollout of Sepsis Management Program to other partners within Grampians Health.
- Provide, where applicable, advice regarding prescription, dosing, appropriateness and compliance of antimicrobials with Grampians Health policies, and management of complex infections.
- Maintain currency of knowledge and expertise in Sepsis Management.
- Provide and maintain a therapeutic drug monitoring service to staff as required.
Skills and experience
- At least three years’ experience specifically in hospital. Experience in antimicrobial stewardship and/or sepsis management would be considered favourably.
- A Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent degree and current registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in the setting involving the supply and administration of antimicrobials and other medications.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualifications that are relevant to the role.
- Demonstrated experience in aseptic manufacturing of products.
- Experience in project management.

About the role
We are seeking an energetic oncology pharmacist to provide leadership and expertise to the rapidly expanding oncology pharmacy services at BHS. - Provide oncology pharmacy services to the outpatient oncology-haematology clinics and Chemotherapy Day Unit.
- Participate in, and oversee (as needed), the provision of clinical pharmacy service to the BRICC’s Chemotherapy Day Unit.

- Support and/or lead (if needed and in collaboration with the Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacist), oncology-related clinical trials
- Managing oncology Medication Access Programs in conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy/delegate, including the facilitation of appropriate approvals;
- Provide ARIA medications functionality system support and advocate for improvements which enhance the usability and efficiency of the system;
Skills and experience
- Three years’ experience specifically in the delivery of oncology services
- A Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent degree and current registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
- Proven ability to function with honesty and integrity in a work environment that is dependent upon adherence to legal requirements.
- Experience in training, coaching or mentoring colleagues and students.

About the role
The Contract Administrator will administer the delivery of several capital works projects recently funded. The successful applicant will have experience in procurement, as well as the assessment and processing of payment claims. They will have knowledge of commercial reporting processes and be capable of providing month end cost reconciliations.
The successful applicant will provide a comprehensive range of high-level project related administrative support tasks, including maintaining registers and routine databases, responding to enquires, drafting correspondence, procuring equipment, supporting key stakeholder relationships and assisting with project research and analysis.

About the role
The Residential Services Lifestyle Co-ordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and activities of a social and recreational nature for residents in BHS Aged Care facilities. Programs which are designed to maintain or enhance quality of life are developed in consultation with residents and/or representatives, nursing and care staff and other healthcare disciplines.
